'unity panda'

I found the project 'unity panda' very insightful.   It explored many interesting angles.  I really liked the way it was an art project that brought together people to create the piece in craft, and how the event was going to be documented sounded really exciting.

‘Craftivism is a contemporary art project that responds to the resurgent interest in craft as it relates to socially-engaged art practices. Craftivism will involve fourteen projects developed by artists and collectives that work with craft-based traditions and activist practices, and who employ the tactics of craftivism (combining crafting + activism) to question, disrupt or replace the dominant modes of mass culture and consumerism.’

The guys who presented the project i though were really engaging and promoted some good discussions.  We thought that any money raised could be donated towards helping pandas or maybe the elderly people that helped them produce the work.   The idea of everything involved including the documentation of it, including video, photographs , letters, costume, knitted pieces and final video creation, could all be used as individual art pieces in themselves; and would work really well in an exhibition space.
